Look into your state firearms laws. Is it licensed carry, constitutional carry? What firearms are legal to own and what permits do you need? Find a local firearms or sporting goods store (in some states/areas). Find your local Socialist Rifle Association chapter and meet up. Safety first always.

There are plenty of places to rent different firearms and get time with an instructor, but to make it easy for you, rifles aren’t crazy useful early on. Learn to maintain and discharge a 9MM pistol safely and go from there.
