V-Plex air purifiers — DIY purifiers with internal V-shaped filters — are gaining popularity. But two important issues are often overlooked: sacrificed internal volume (the transition chamber) and uncertain airflow paths.

7/ Erika Cheung actions led to the creation of a crucial initiative: Erika Cheung co-founded "Ethics in Entrepreneurship." The idea? Build a culture of integrity from the foundations, so we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past. ethicsinentrepreneurship.org

6/This is why Erika Cheung's TED Talk, the brave whistleblower from Theranos, resonates so strongly. She emphasizes the vital importance of "speaking up when something is wrong," a value that should be deeply rooted in our corporate culture.

🧵Thread on Ethics
1/ Business ethics start from the very beginning.
A startup without ethics will never have any.
Ethics should be a priority and must be reflected in actions.
Beware of the “Fake it until you make it” mentality.

4/ My experience includes testing various popular models with my protocol, such as the Northbox Mini, Tempest, Tempest Euro, AirFanta3Pro, as well as several DIY purifiers I have designed or evaluated.

1/I'll be opening my private test chamber for air purifiers this summer or early fall (located in the Montreal area, Canada). If you have a machine you consider 'super good' and wish to get a CADR measurement, you can contact me via direct message. I will do my best to consider every request.

The system costs about the same as a Corsi-Rosenthal box.
Two models:
Upward airflow
Front-facing airflow (with deflector)
Same core components — choose based on your space.

Here’s the CO₂ impact at in a 180 sq ft bedroom (2 people):
🔴 No ventilation: 3360 ppm
🟢 With FantaMix (max fan level): 617 ppm
A simple build. Big difference.

I just published the first look at FantaMix, a DIY system that brings in outdoor HEPA-filtered air — and recovers a bit of heat.
It’s simple, low-cost, and works even with tricky window setups.👇

Drying my hair caused PM2.5 levels to spike from 0.1 to 109 µg/m³ in just a few minutes.
Indoor air pollution can be surprisingly high without us noticing.
You can't fix what you don't measure.

3/3 I also built a second model — larger, ducted, and with much higher airflow.
It uses an AirFanta HEPA filter + 2 Arctic P14 Max fans, with a flexible intake duct.
It’s bulkier, but early anemometer tests show impressive performance.
More details to come once testing is complete.

1/3 DIY window air exchanger with HEPA — built while house-sitting for my partner during her trip down south.
Not an HRV, just a simple air exchanger — quiet, effective fix (~35 dB) for high CO₂ in a tiny bedroom, for under $100. 3–4h build & install 3-night CO₂ test 1h airflow + sound testing
