So here we go. The big #GivingTuesday pitch. God help me, I'm gonna get this done so I can finally focus on actual substantive work.

There are so many deserving causes out there that deserve your help. If you only have a little to give, give it to one of them.

30% of the country and most of Congress and SCOTUS say oh this must be a commentary on Taylor Swift's endorsement of the Cracker Barrel logo change.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
Then at least you could say ok, they're being too clever for people to notice it. But every day Stephen Miller shouts "DEATH TO AMERICA" from a microphone and Donald Trump tweets out a photo of himself shitting on an American flag and ...

Corollary, it's additionally irritating that even they're so transparently bad at being effectively evil a truly remarkable number of people (both voters and officials) keep letting them do it.

It would be one thing if we were dealing with Xanatos gambits left and right.
diegoatlaw.bsky.social
This is a petty matter, truly minor, but it's absolutely so irritating that this administration is not only evil, they also are really messy in how they do things so it's hard to pull together whatever bullshit new fees or process you're looking up

I bet some staffer got an earful when she got out of there. WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU TELL ME KENNEDY WAS GOING TO INTERROGATE ME

And I equally bet the reason said staffer didn't do so was because he forgot that Sen. Leghorn actually went to Oxford and assumed he was ACTUALLY an ignorant hick.

When she started criticizing Dems (including Schiff IIRC) for showing up just in time for their questions, I was like, ok, that's fair.

Then he broke out that list and damn, solid counterpunch.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
I'm not a big Schiff fan but I'll give him props that he at least did some homework (or probably had a staffer do it). Too many Dems would come in late, then ask the same questions 4 other Dems had asked w/o paying attention to what came before. That list of things she refused to answer was spot on.

Pretty much. The funny thing is, despite all the oppo research her minions did for this, I don't think they even considered that a Republican would actually question her, and they didn't prep her in the slightest for his attack. And she had to wing it.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
He started out making her think he was on her side and just going to blow smoke up her ass and then proceeded to make her increasingly deer in headlights with each passing word.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
that's part of it, yeah. go to the Reuters youtube link I posted right above the quoted post and start watching around the 3-hr mark. His entire turn is pretty great, regardless of what you think of him.

OK true story I was trying to be super cheesy and lit like 10 candles on our anniversary a couple years ago and my wife walked in, said "Nope," and turned back around and walked back out.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
I just want to pull this out of the thread it was in because wtf.

Somebody ate their fucking Wheaties today.

You might not agree with the points he was making, but he did an exceptional job getting to them and dragging her along for the ride against every fiber of her being.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
I can't believe I'm about to say this but there were approximately 85 lawyers on the dais today and the only one of them to run this like a cross-examination (and do so pretty amazingly) was John Fucking Kennedy.

WTF is even happening.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.
Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators

tbf jeopardy is about being able to regurgitate things other people said

OK I'm still plowing through this hearing at 2x bc I have actual shit to do and holy shit you could see Bondi silently yelling SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP at Kennedy the whole time. She did NOT want to talk about it.

Just referred someone to a former DOJ opposing counsel who abandoned ship after Trump took office, so for those of you still in DOJ, if you do that your former opponents will remember it.

That soundbite right there tells you literally everything you need to know about the GOP half of the hearing.
nationalsecuritylaw.org
I then literally laughed out loud when Bondi completely exposed the GOP Senators' lack of seriousness a half-hour or so later when instead of answering a question, she literally said "What Senator Graham was trying to say was..."
nationalsecuritylaw.org
When Graham was "questioning" (that there's called a "term of art") Bondi he was all over the map and could not articulate his right-wing soundbite salad very well at all. I started wondering what Bondi thought of his flailing attempts to "help."

It would be a gigantic slap to the survivors. Unfortunately it's only slightly worse than the current slap they're living through of her camping out and sipping state-sponsored mai tais.
