There are limitation to this though. It doesn't give us direct correlation between social media posts and sales. You are correct that it gives much more accurate information and has definitely changed the landscape for business marketing.

I think that's a great question. The changes might not just be the technology though. The changes might be affected by the scientific understanding of memory changing throughout the decades.

I would agree that there is a place for Excel and tableau. Tableau is really good for presentations, but Excel is preferred for a lot of analysis since it gives more options for how to manipulate the data as needed.

What's even more interesting is that it's not just the people we work with. If you start to look at who people watch and follow on social media it makes a change to our behavior too.

My sister actually writes books and the phenomenon with the Agatha Christie novels applies to all writers. If your cover doesn't match the tone of the content in the book you attract the wrong audience. It really is all about appearance to get that first initial interest in a book.

I thought it might be based on the weather. Some years it is so hot here that chocolate candy just melts. Sour patch kids are better able to withstand the heat.
Also all the 8-10 year old kids I know love sour candy, so that could play a factor in it too.

This is why on social media we have a generation war constantly going on. Problem is that when marketing to some generations you are going to alienate others. Take for example treating millennials like teenagers may appeal to boomers but it alienates all the other younger generations.
