Is it a swan? Is it an angel? I think it's a swangel.

Montbretia was a great favourite of my late mother.

The leaves are a very attractive shape aren't they!

The symbol of the fictional Sir Percy Blakeney’s secret identity as the Scarlet Pimpernel - Lysimachia arvensis growing outside Heathfield House in Croydon. #WildflowerHour

With apologies for being a day late for #WildflowerHour (due to some unaccustomed Sunday evening gallivanting), here is some Fig-leaved Goosefoot, Chenopodium ficifolium, growing on some unloved ground next to the Fairfield Halls in central Croydon.

With the spines and upright growth habit, yes, I'd say Spiny Restharrow. Common Restharrow is more low growing and patch forming.

It could be Water Chickweed, Stellaria aquatica (there isn't a plant with the common name Water Stitchwort) but you'd need to check number of styles and stamens. Water Chickweed has 5 styles and 10 stamens (see pic). Useful info for Chickweed and Stitchwort ID here:

WOW #FungiFriends! My favourite Amanita spot didn’t disappoint!!! I nearly lost my mind, a whole FAIRY RING of Fly Agarics, some as big as dinner plates!! 🥰🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🧚
#FungiFriday
A fairy ring of Fly Agarics was a wonderful surprise this afternoon. Instantly recognisable, Fly Agarics are so vivid they have an unworldly feel to them and to see so many really did seem magical, straight from the pages of a fairy tale!! 🍄🧚

Woohoo! It’s Sunday & it’s 8pm so it’s time for #WildflowerHour 🥳 Have you spotted anything flowering this week from across Britain and Ireland?

Seen at the edge of a ploughed arable field: Scentless Mayweed, Smooth Sowthistle, Dove’s-foot Cranesbill, Hawkweed Oxtongue & *think* OSR (lots of it!).

#SpleenwortSaturday
should definitely be a thing. Here’s some of the Maidenhair variety
(Asplenium Trichomanes)
Maidenhair Spleenwort growing on a wall. Several fronds of small green “leaves” sprouting from a central point.

Black Spleenwort, Asplenium adiantum-nigrum, on the walls around St Mary's Church in Staines for #SpleenwortSaturday. (And yes, I do know that's not a thing, but I missed #FernFriday yesterday.)
