I'iwi on Māmane bush/tree on Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii. A honeycreeper it fills the niche to some extent that the lack of hummers miss.

No sheen here as well. This is the same bird as in the other photo. Large Tall bird with grey bill reddish brown Iris (Glossy is brown) brown head and long neck with white spotting. Most of the body is brown without the sheen that can be seen in good light. Slight green to tail.

A moderately large bird (duck size) with dark gray to black back and visible wings, white head, neck and breast with black eye and a fine black eyebrow extending 3/4 inch behind the eye. The beak is light pink, hooked down at the end. It sits in front of an obvious chick with gray and white pin feathers and white around its eye. Both are sitting on dried fine vegetation not resembling a nest.

A very long-necked bird with a long sharp beak that has impaled a small fish arises from the water. This is where they get their nickname Snake Birds A large mostly black bird with wings partly open to catch sun and wind to dry out. The s shaped neck is tan in color so a female. The feet are large and webbed to power the bird underwater. The translucent gullet hangs below. I have never seen that while a bird is at rest. These 2 were just 3 m off the path travelled by everyone who winds their way around this part of the island showing how little fear they have of humans. 2 large birds squatting back with large yellow beaks white heads and necks transitioning into brown wings, breasts, and bodies. A single egg is beneath the farther bird's breast and between her blue feet. The egg is brown on one end and splotchy brown on the other.

3 King Penguins with one catching up on a quest. They are about 3 feet tall with white chests legs and abdomens, shiny gray backs becoming black heads with yellow orange ear patches black feet and beaks that are black above and orange in the proximal lower portion. A grey Antarctic Fur seal juvenile with external ears its bottom half raised on its unseen back flippers more like a sea lion than seal which have neither and cannot walk on their front flippers like fur seals and sea lions. It is looking at a molting King Penguin with short fluffy feathers on the upper chest (white) and back(grey) as well as some scattered fluff on the grey flippers. It is looking our way but with its beak slightly up pointed. 3 King Penguins overlapping with beaks aiming upwards.. They are about 3 feet tall with white chests and abdomens, shiny gray backs becoming black heads with yellow orange ear patches and beaks that are black above and orange in the proximal lower portion.
