I'd follow that up with a couple of granite steps that were freebies, but I had to split the long one in half in order to move it!

My most unique find was a 881 pound anchor that was brought up from the bottom of the ocean off Cape St. Mary's NL by a fishing boat in the 1980's and put on Marketplace last year. Most likely from a 100+ year old shipwreck.

I have the slightly less realistic desire to see them everywhere 😅

The site of the old Anglican Parish Hall on Queen's Road would be a good start.

Over the next little while, I'll be posting some of the #restoration content that I was proudly building over on Twitter for the last 7 years.

Let's start with April 2024.

While reading Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, this quote leapt off the page at me. Though she is speaking about the use of DDT and pesticides, I can't help but see how this applies to architecture, built heritage, and place making.

Cutting (my first ever) mortise and tenon joint in this 6x6 post for the cooperage rebuild. Now that it's in place, you can't even see it (🥲). But I'll know it's there, and that pleases me immensely.

Just one more way that I'm adding a splash of old soul into this new build.

You can just catch a glimpse of my latest project: rebuilding the old cooperage! I can't wait to get some new wood windows and spruce clapboard installed!

Hello world! Starting off on this new platform seems quite daunting, but here's hoping to recreating a new little circle of those who appreciate old houses.
