Fun fact: the tamarack (also known as the eastern larch), which is abundant in the area, turns a brilliant gold in late fall before shedding its needles. This phenomenon is unique among conifers!

Keep an eye out for birds, frogs, and even newly relocated turtles that now call the bog home. 🐦🐸🐢

Mer Bleue, dressed in fall colours. 🍂

The area features over 20 km of scenic trails to enjoy, beyond the well-known boardwalk that’s especially popular at this time of year.

For a quieter visit, try coming early in the morning, on weekdays or in the evening.

🌱 Burdock plants can produce up to 16,000 seeds

↔ Their clinging burrs can spread seeds far and wide when they attach to dogs and clothes

🐤 These burrs can trap small birds and bats

The volunteers will remove burdocks again next year and are looking for more helpers!

Volunteers helped prevent a sticky situation.

Earlier this summer, volunteers from the Rockcliffe Park Residents Association removed invasive burdocks in their community on NCC-owned land.
