"Zip tie guy" Eric Munchel was convicted of carrying a Taser into the Capitol Building, not a gun. Mario Mares & Christopher Alberts had handguns outside. None of them threatened anyone with their weapons.

Note the word they chose: "proportion."

Do you see it? The frequency of MAJOR hurricanes is only down slightly, but the frequency of ALL hurricanes is down significantly. That means "the global PROPORTION of Category 3–5 tropical cyclone instances has increased."

That's a textbook illustration of Chesterton's point that "Falsehood is never so false as when it is very nearly true."

It's "spin." It is calculated deception without QUITE lying.

Speaking as an IPCC Expert Reviewer, the IPCC's authors are sly. They know tropical cyclones aren't worse, but they dodge & weave to avoid admitting it. They "project" worsening, but, despite > 3/4 century of rising CO2 levels, it still hasn't detectably happened. So far.

That's not a cherry-pick. Those are high-quality peer-reviewed papers in mainstream journals.

Tornadoes & nor'easters haven't worsened, either.

The Democratic Party was founded by supporters of Andrew Jackson, as the Party of slavery & "Indian Removal." After the Civil war it was the Party of segregation, Jim Crow & the KKK. Now it's the abortion party. Not much has changed. It's still the Party of hard hearts.

There's no evidence any protester carried a gun into the Capitol. Not even one.

As I pointed out, "'Insurrection' = attempted violent overthrow of a government. It requires LOTS of GUNS. Always. Usually big ones."

It also requires the insurrectionists to USE those guns. (Not watch from outside.)

You're right, I was wrong.

If this new case holds up, and if you also count the armed DEA agent, that's five people with guns near the Capitol or on Capitol Grounds. As far as I've been able to determine, no protesters entered the Capitol with guns.

I found one more: an off-duty DEA agent, who was wearing his badge and (government-issued) gun, and was charged with having a firearm on the Capitol Grounds. He apparently didn't enter the Capitol. I don't know how the case came out.

True. "Hispanic" is an ethnic classification.

He said the Board was "white Republicans."

"White" can mean either race or ethnicity, but in a Texas political context it's typically an ethnic classification.

I did some web searching, and found reports of three individuals who apparently had guns in the vicinity of the Capitol (1), or on the Capitol Grounds (2). I didn't find any reports of any protesters bringing guns into the Capitol Building.

That's false. Where are you "learning" such lies??

He posted that LOOTERS should be shot, not "protestors."

Also, those claims about him saying "he could get away with it by claiming to feel threatened" and "his plan of provoking a situation" are complete fabrications.

That is not true. He never said he wanted to kill protestors. The word he used was "looters."

Nor did he attack protestors with his car. It was the other way around: an angry mob surrounded his car, and were pounding & kicking it.

But he didn't shoot them. He only shot the guy who raised a rifle.

Self-defense isn't murder. If an angry person approaches you holding a gun (not holstered or slung on his shoulder), and starts raising it, you're entitled to shoot him, in self-defense.

You're also entitled to a presumption of innocence, even if all the witnesses hate you.

1/2. Do you remember the LaRouchies? Many years ago I was killing time in an airport before my flight, where some of them were soliciting for "Latin American debt relief." I asked them polite but uncomfortable questions about Larouche's communist (SWP, SDS, etc.) past, and they became very hostile.

"Distress" in that context means "help, my boat's sinking" or similar.

I'm distressed that we live in a gerontocracy, preparing for an election between two dishonest incompetents, both clearly in cognitive decline. But my boat isn't sinking & my 🇺🇸 flag is right-side-up.

Of course it's true. It's astonishing and disheartening to realize that kids these days come out of school without even knowing what it means to be truthful.

Maybe that's one of the reasons so many people vote for chronic liars like Trump & Biden: they don't even know what (dis)honesty means.
