Walmart’s cost of good sold is 75% to 80% of revenue. Increase COGS by 30%, company will struggle to break even… Walmart can increase price or lose a few hundred billion in market cap…. Either way, their decision will be based on reality, not Trump’s delusions and lies.

Walmart’s net profit after tax is about 3%…. You don’t need to be a genius to recognize that a 30% increase in cost of good sold will either lead to higher prices or lower profits. The former leads to severe inflation, the latter to their share price collapsing. Take your pick.

Walmart, the biggest retailer in the world, has net profit margins of 3%. If you put 30% tariffs on the majority of their products, they either go bankrupt or raise prices. What do you think they will choose?

Reminds me of Flight UA 93 on 9/11. Obviously the passengers on that flight faced two terrible alternatives. Fight back and risk their lives or do nothing and face certain death. They chose to fight and all died. Personally, I believe they made the right choice, even if it cost them everything.
