Replacing all our smoke detectors and our carbon monoxide alarm. A few were acting up and it turns out they were all over ten years old. Safety first always. #firesafety #smokededectors

PSA - Today I found out - Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have a lifespan of 7-10 years. I have never lived in one place long enough for that to matter until now.
Uhm, yay housing stability?
Anyhoo - replace your detectors if they are old!

Mary Mich and Luke Reimer were found dead in a car on the campus of Franciscan University
“Toxicology results confirmed both subjects died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning” “This was ruled accidental in nature and appears to be caused by a problem with the vehicle's exhaust.”

Steve Ford lost his 16-year-old son, Joe, to carbon monoxide poisoning last winter.

Now he’s giving away 1,000 CO detectors to protect other families.

CO alarms & awareness save lives. 💛

Winter Safety Alert 🚨
Never use grills or generators indoors—they produce deadly, odorless carbon monoxide.

Stay safe: use devices outdoors only, keep them 20 ft from doors/windows, and install a CO detector.

What a heartbreaking story.

Its important to make snow is clear from all exhaust vents so carbon monoxide doesn't build up inside.
