The key thing most have trouble internalizing is that so much economic commentary of various levels of sophistication takes the price mechanism for granted that its missed that the "price mechanism" is actually quite a complicated & convoluted notion.

The main conference centre in Lusaka (built in 1970 to host the third Non-Aligned Movement conference) features a scale model of the open pit mine at Chingola. It even has tiny model dumper trucks in the pit.
