Hell, you can make an argument the Padres are better-run. Considering (their entirely self-imposed) spending limits, the Rays are more efficient. The Mariners have a real nice core and are building nicely. Toronto clearly is better.

The cherry on top is that the Yankees still talk like "any season that ends without a World Series is a failure" when their actions clearly show it isn't. Just stop with this facade of being a better franchise than anyone else.

The Dodgers are better-run. The Brewers are better-run.

I *need* Arsenal to win some major trophies this year because the rest of my sports teams are so far away. Jets and Nets are probably the worst teams in their respective leagues, and the Yankees are content with mediocrity.

True. But the optics of that bases loaded flyout in the 8th was so bad. Dude just walked the previous hitter, and he flies out weakly on a pitch up and away out of the zone, first pitch. Just encapsulated the entire series from a Yankees offensive standpoint.

It's wild how every fan and analyst can see Boone needs to go. The only ones who don't want him fired are fans of other teams. But Cashman and/or Steinbrenner are happy being the Padres of the AL.

They might have more money actually - Stroman's 18M comes off the books and Hicks' retained money drops from 10M to 1M (DJLM goes from 16M to 15M).

OF: Between Bellinger, Grisham anD Slater, about 33M coming off the books. Jasson is still dirt-cheap. Stanton dropping from 32M to 19M is a nice dropoff.

Looking at financials:
SP: pretty locked in, arb raise for Schmidt is +2/3M.

RP: arb raises for Bednar/Doval/Cruz probably just cancels out expiring deals of Devin/Weaver/Yarbrough.

INF: Goldschmidt walks but McMahon's raise (4M->16M) cancels that out. Jazz will get a bump in arbitration.

Volpe can't be on the roster next year. Boone clearly gives him too much leash, and he is terrible. Need a fresh start at SS and he needs to start again somewhere else.
