A Statement regarding the dissolution of WNY MMM in Collaboration with Transgender WNY
Hello, my name is Skylar Klotzbach. I’m one of the admins of Buffalo Coffee Klatch (a trans-femme social group), and a member of Transgender WNY—a collective of folks outside of the cisgender binary that I am representing. In light of the recent crisis around WNY MMM, and the decision of its leadership to dissolve the group, we extend our condolences at the unfortunate circumstance and wish to state our commitments towards establishing supportive spaces for the WNY trans and queer community, which are strictly unwelcome to transphobes, fascists, and like sympathizers. We recognize the tragedy of the incident and its effects upon WNY transmasculine folk—we are deeply outraged and express nothing but the most love and support for anyone affected by the situation, and for those who will be affected by the loss of an organized trans-masc community. We hope that this gap in our community will be temporary. We know the importance of trans and queer community in this political climate, and while we cannot replace this lack, we would, nevertheless, like to extend an invitation to our community potluck. It takes place on September 7th at Ellicott Creek Park Pavilion 10 from noon to 4. Partners, allies, and queer folk in general are welcome, fascists are not. Please join us for some food (we’ll do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions) and community. Finally, we would like to invite you to join the Transgender WNY community through our Discord server. Send us a message and we'll get you added.
