I listened to the album w/ my sister who said downstairs perfectly captured how she feels about her mental health, so we didn’t instantly get the religious meaning either. That’s kinda the beauty of their music & I get weird vibes when people say the religious interpretation is the only right one

no I totally get this! I was raised on a different religion from the boys and am also not really religious now, and can understand that Tyler’s intended meanings may often be related to struggles with faith, but the lyrics are generally ambiguous enough that people can have different takeaways.
