Right? Are they paying way more than the going rate? you have to assume that selecting a more innocuous sleeve sponsor would lead to a measurable bump in kit sales generating more revenue

Funded heavily by a billionaire I’m sure (one of the “good ones”). By the time we wake up to what’s happening it’s going to be too late.

What about Nwaneri? I’d rather we try him up front than revert back to watching Merino play there. It will be extremely hard for us to go from playing Gyokeres style for 70 minutes and then slot in Merino.

We really need Kai for Liverpool and City. If he’s out for a prolonged period, and we don’t sign a replacement, is Nwaneri an option? Merino did as well as he could last year and, while it was heroic, it isn’t going to cut it for a full season.

Unless something surprising develops with Martinelli, this is pretty definitive evidence that we aren’t going to upgrade at LW (or that Arteta sees Noni as the LW upgrade)

Agree that Havertz starts up front. I think we’ll see Calafiori start too for Gabi XL. We need Big Gabi fit all season and I just have a hunch Arteta is going to ease him back into the squad and look for ways to reduce his minutes where he can. Saka, Calafiori and Gyokeres goals today.

Should progressives shift away from using the term “mainstream media”? MAGA/Fox/T have turned it into something that means “liberal” to nearly half the population. IMO we need to change that and use something else that points out that ALL major media outlets are controlled by billionaires.

Maybe Madueke as cover makes sense at a price point that allows AFC to do its other business, but why would we even come close to their valuation for him? They just bought Gittens and their depth chart is ridiculously crowded. Paying them a fee that allows them to profit on him turns my stomach.

Maybe. He was unknown and exciting. We bought into him being anti-establishment largely because there were 18 years of Bushes and Clintons and the choice on the Dem side was buy into the promise of him being different in a way we wanted or another 4-8 years of a Clinton.

Obama was a centrist who was often reluctant to tact too far left. If he were running for office today he'd meet the same criticism levied at Democratic leadership now. He was uniquely gifted and a stark contrast to GWB but he was squarely aligned with the entrenched and cautious core of the Dems

100% agree. This game meant nothing. Losing it while resting half the team wouldn’t have mattered. Instead we lost while also exhausting our very thin group of core players. Ridiculous.

We needed to rotate. No reason whatsoever for Nwaneri to start game on the bench. Odie was bright in the first half and a shell of himself by the end. I don’t get it.

Amazing night. I think it’s got to be Arteta’s big win ever. Just epic. Fuck yeah!!!

Zinky playing as a #10 in front of a double pivot? So many left backs!

Extremely tough for Liverpool as well. If we don’t make it past the quarters, and Liverpool does, I really like our chances in the League.

Not counting on anything. Still have scars from two years ago. D is playing great though.

I do wonder whether the summer Zubimendi rumors are true and whether there’s some sort of handshake deal around pursuing Sesko in the Summer. It may be the case that ownership forced a choice here and that going all in on Watkins meant foregoing Arteta’s ideal summer signings.
