While listening to 1999, by Prince, 15YO commented on its similarities to Manic Monday by singing, “… kissing Valentino by a crystal blue Italian stream…” knowing full well that Prince also wrote Manic Monday and my work as a parent might be done.

One of my favorite bands has a song called “Why Do You Have to Put a Date on Everything” and the answer is, so when you’re cleaning out your mom’s fridge after your dad dies unexpectedly, you know which bags of frozen dumplings to toss.

My YA novel, Acts of Lovingkindness, got a stellar Kirkus Indie review! They called it “A realistic rendering of teen life and its tumults” and “… a book that teens will enjoy, and one their parents should read along with them.” Still looking for an agent…
