Frustrating! Dell’s, Thinkpads, and old Macs just hand you the keys. Quick research on my end mentions disabling secure boot/allowing custom boot—I’m sure you’ve tried that. Came across something that suggested using Ventoy to flash the USB? It might work with HP’s bios better? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Good luck!

That’s unfortunate! I’ve yet to run into hardware I can’t get Linux on. What laptop and what distro? I doubt I can be of much help but don’t want you to give up!
