Like all the years and months and days leading up to November 5, many of the outlets continue to anesthetize readers to the real, unprecedented, devastating actions afoot - and it only will get worse when most of the media outlets capitulate and crumble on January 20.

For instance, Michael D. Shear @shearm in the Times today begins almost every paragraph with milquetoast clauses of habituation: “As he often does,” “As with many of Mr. Trump’s speeches,” and “The address was something of a return to the past for Mr. Trump.”

What’s striking continually is how the mainstream media keeps characterizing Trump’s rhetoric and promises for his second administration as “familiar” which semantically normalizes his actions.
