But really the problem is the state governments who now know that their job is to tip the election to Trump, by whatever means available. There will be, without a doubt, a blizzard of irregularities, different in each state, some by outside intimidators, some inside jobs.

I’m not an expert but it seems to me that the investment would be trivial compared to the effect

There are only a few swing states, and of those, only a few swing counties, and of those, you only need to target 50% + 1

The real number is probably in the hundreds to low thousands

White Christmas will be edited by AI to remove the drag scene and then put the blackface back in the minstrel show scene

He’s actually making a clumsy threat to destabilize the North if they interfere with slavery.

But yes, we have all but forgotten that “wage slavery” was once considered a terrible degradation of the human spirit, by people of all political backgrounds.

That was one of the most illuminating documents I have read on this issue. Thank you

I don’t think this is surprising or unusual. Many countries have about the same percentage of people who would prefer authoritarianism. It’s constant across many places and historical periods.

www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...
Who likes authoritarianism, and how do they want to change their government?
The share of the public that supports authoritarian systems ranges from 85% in India to 8% in Sweden.

It is now canon that Gandalf took Sam aside and explained his real job was to murder Frodo

”Meaning no disrespect, Mr. Gandalf, but what the fuck?”

“He’s your master, idle and rich, surely you’ve considered it many times?”

“N-n-no…?”

Gandalf rolls his eyes, mutters something in high Elven

in seriousness if we’re all going for “what makes voters feel righteous anger” there is no competing with war. If the American voter is vulnerable to the lust for empire (and maybe the promise of distributing spoils) you can’t beat that with so-called kitchen table issues

I don’t know what causes a smart person to say things like this

I assume someone gave her a presentation like “the average American voter really likes blowing things up and racism, but there is a slim 10% who are also starving. Here‘s our proposed messaging strategy“

I did not know the context and thought this was trolling by White House staffers on Ken, not you trolling us

100% agree but I decided that everyone else was in the wrong movie

The movie exists in an absurd alternate present with “Christmas Adventurers” and magical music boxes. The book it’s based on seems like it’s even more comically absurd

I respect you but boomer nostalgia cannot save us.

CBS aligned its coverage of World War II to the FDR administration, and produced his many fireside chats.

Murrow’s stance was memorable but McCarthy’s star was already falling; Eisenhower was undermining him

Big broadcasters serve the powerful.

Seems like an opportunity to just make the journal(s) and the article(s).

Next use citation-scoring software to show your works are cited all over the internet. Then you get tenure.

Sometimes called a “howcatchem”.

The story is about whether the investigator and their methods are going to succeed, against a perpetrator who has various advantages.

I enjoyed Poker Face, which uses the same trope, with explicit callbacks to shows like Columbo

@mrontology.bsky.social was closer to the mark. Google, Apple, Meta and Microsoft own planetary attention. There are literally no new customers. To keep share prices up they a story about how they are going to own more of your life. Yesterday it was the Metaverse. Today it’s AI.

It’s not that intentional. Venture capitalists are as intelligent as a slime mold, collectively moving towards the greatest profit. There are plenty of investors in cleantech and solar. But these are slow, require favorable regulation, and cannot be monopolized.

Literally the reason Twitter sucks now is all these foreigners logged on willing to do racism for pennies on the dollar and undercut our home-grown American racists. We need to erect serious trade barriers to protect the integrity of our domestic racism industry and preserve racist jobs.

I remember when there was a discussion on Twitter about Shein's manufacturing practices and some apologists invented all sorts of fantastical machinery and technology to avoid facing the more horrifying truth. Reminds me of this comedian's joke.

Not to mention this, which depicts a strong, fat, working woman as a warrior against fascism. He even dares to depict her eating a sandwich of heroic proportions, almost a century before body positivity. The image is both comic and elevated, alluding to the Sistine Chapel.
