Aberdeen. Scotland. Wigan. Golf. Wife & kids. (Not necessarily in that order). Got booted from X for expressing legitimate concerns about former Tory PMs.

One of the many things that frustrates me is that the players who signed in the summer and are leaving now have kept good players like Polvara, Clarkson and Palaversa on the sidelines and we’re possibly going to see all of them go. Shambles

Recruitment in the summer was an absolute car crash. The only ones who look like they might turn out okay are Frame & Kjartansson, and still early days for both of them. Whoever was responsible for recruitment should be shown the door. They’re responsible for Jimmy’s exit

Give him a week at Pittodrie then once he’s had a look around…

I listened to a description of him on the ABZ podcast. I’m expecting him to get a red card on his debut. Apparently in Germany he’s described as a “vacuum cleaner” player. Hoover? Dyson? Shark? Henry?

Marching through a ‘hoorin storm isn’t necessarily recommended. If you manage to avoid that unfortunate scenario then I could understand that sharp island whiskies might not be at the top of the agenda. There are many, many fine alternatives

There is a time & place for all of them. After a couple of hours walking through/against a ‘hoorin’ wind, the sharpest, smokiest, peatiest whisky is the ultimate pick-me-up. If you want a wee cheeky one to set you off to sleep then you can’t beat a smooth Speyside or Highland malt

Do we think Steve Bruce could be persuaded to spend 3 months back at Wigan?

Signings so far in this window have made sense: Loans for 3 outfielder players & 1 permanent keeper (existing cover not ideal). This signing looks strange. If we’re signing a midfielder on a permanent basis an injury prone journeyman who’s never played in SPL (or even EFL) seems reckless
January 27, 2026 at 3:12 PM
Tbf there are numerous players we’ve signed over the past few seasons who seem like that but equally could be gems: Polvara, Palaversa, Shady Mo, Christian Ramirez, Vinny. Recruitment over the past 5 years has been unfathomable. The club has made some £ but at the expense of stability & progress

Definitely something in this. Hence the paralysis around football stadium, Union Street decay. Anecdotally the RBS cash machine on junction between Union Street & George St was the most used in the UK for most of the 80’s & 90’s. Reason: planning. Council restricted permission for £ machines.
