Definitely something has changed as I only started seeing them in winter about 4 years ago. Prior to that, I rarely saw a bluebird, even in summer. I don't have any water out in the winter for the birds. The bluebirds seem to like what I feed the other birds (sunflower seeds, peanuts, corn).

I'm in Ohio and ours stay this color (that's a male in the photo) all year long. They come to my feeders in winter in small flocks. I had 7 or 8 of them here yesterday.
