not idea what’s physically possible but widening the Hilton passageway with good signage, adding more open space in general on the lower level and extending the central corridor to njtransit / amtrak tracks would help a lot. worst current issues are with njtransit

but that’s to downtown have you compared car vs transit time from the most car oriented fringes of north van to lion’s bay? ( seriously: yes, it’s the worst case scenario but impressive it has coverage. and yes i’ve done this)

9/11 memorial lights from brooklyn tonight; can’t decide which photo i like best. they’re coming from the old wtc site but don’t see a hint of a skyscraper, too far away?

strangely, it’s cheaper to fly Chicago-Honolulu via Calgary then any of the domestic options an airline could sell a ticket for the entire route ( an airline cannot sell a domestic route with a non us stopover, it would have to be separate tickets )

August 11, 2025 at 11:35 PM
penn station question? why is the lower level so disconnected ( and no njtransit/ amtrak access from two corridors) more through corridors would decrease congestion and de crowd the njtransit waiting area @stephenjacobsmith.com @nilo.bsky.social

route is somewhat faster than nyc-philly and more competitive with driving
August 5, 2025 at 10:38 PM
looking up Leicester to London, i figured it would be better than NY-Philly. regularly 4 trains /hour; ny-Philly is 2-3 sometimes 1 midday and some are stupid expensive
August 5, 2025 at 12:47 PM
as a long islander living 35 miles away, not having night transit back to the burbs is alien to me. i’m used to a packed weekend drunk train. even on weekday nights i’ve left 10-11 pm to meet friends. tbf anyone expecting good sf connections wouldn’t be in sonoma county

@doug.city @wandrme.paxex.aero skimmed a pdf on nyc airports. jfk stands out on how many of its flyers are international tourists ( or recent immigrants living in the us) doubt any us airport except MIA is similar www.panynj.gov/content/dam/...

AA is still 1/8th of JFK’s volume. half of jetblue is still something. united is 2/3rds of Newark which i think is unusual for a big airport
