but yeah, my point is that people can (and should) host their data in many places, but if everyone still connects over bluesky's servers to get their feeds and hydrated posts then there's still a huge central point of power.

you could track that partially through checking usage of non-bluesky records, such as tangled.org, and for bluesky-like appviews it might make sense to check for pds usage like blacksky, though that will probably underestimate it significantly (and they still don't have an appview in use afaik?)

i don't think there's any reliable way of tracking this, but while having more users spread out over many pds is important, i think what's at least equally important for taking away bluesky's strong power in the system is more appviews actively being in use.

they're not originally from that new account, so i am importing them as new. i haven't tried anything yet. what would the pds even do if i imported it all as a car file? (also i would need to learn how to construct a car file out of the records). my naive approach is just to create each record
