It's in part the argument between difference feminism (aka gender essentialism) & equality feminism (aka gender neutral feminism) though both have taken up difference feminism from various angles throughout their theories. It's a long & mostly useless argument imo. But it does sell articles & books.

That would be what they would manufacture out of it now I'm sure. The deep & strange & vile obsession some people have with trans people now is something I don't get. I think they don't understand it themselves. It's way beyond a social morality thing. I mean it's fear & scapegoating, but why?

If they started thinking stis come from toilet seats again, as was rumored decades ago, testing rates might rise. One could inject the idea into qanon universe & US health dept would adopt testing right away. Public health by stealth. That's hopeful. They'd probably close public washrooms instead.
