Do you have any other sources on this? Because all I can find is cyclical reposting of this one article. That seems like something multiple sources would’ve written about.

my favorite comic of all time 🧡

(Ran out of characters in my other response)
The vote is really just to see if the populace of the state are even interested in making it happen.

It’s extremely difficult to actually secede. It’s literally not an option in the constitution, so from what I can tell:
1. Declaration of intent,
2. Negotiations with congress,
3. Amend the constitution and dealing with Supreme Court challenges.

So next to impossible really.

I mean post civil war, sorry, I should have been very clear when I said that. Because yes, half the country seceding was definitely the worst part of our history.

Also, thank you for the conversation. I’m genuinely enjoying the back-and-forth and being pushed to really delve into things 😊

All the information I have provided is easily available online 😊 and I think it’s silly to block people who are genuinely trying to have a conversation 😂 if we can help educate each other and point ourselves towards a better understanding then we all deserve to be heard.

This is about standing up to them. There is a long history of states threatening to secede and it’s almost always been during administrations that are overstepping and it has always come to a compromise.

That would be the reunification of a nation already part of nato, so that would happen if CA seceded and rejoined the US. For a new country to join it can take anywhere from 1 year (Finland) to 21 years (north Macedonia) average time being 3-5 years.
January 29, 2025 at 6:18 PM
To be perfectly clear. I don’t think this is the ideal solution. But it is a viable path to investigate and keep available. The ideal solution would be the removal of the entire administration currently running the US into the ground.

But he does currently run it, and the things he and his cabinet/administration do over the next 4 years will have long-lasting effects on the entire world. Not just the US. So the actions he has already taken, and the potential actions he will take, need to be accounted for in our thought processes.

💯💯 my biggest concern is people will back this without fully understanding exactly how difficult it has the possibility of being. But I would absolutely love to be part of a real change solution and creating a space that is truly safe for lgbtq+, women, and minorities.

His top adversary is already going away. Trump just took us out of the way through his 90 day “America first policy”. Yes, it is mainly focused on non-military aid, but it is also well documented that, while he threatens economic measures against Russia, he supports and looks up to Putin.
January 29, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Joining nato requires a unanimous vote. The US would vote against it. So even I don’t think we’d be able to get into nato. Most countries that do take decades to join.
January 29, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Joining nato is a decades long process, and one that requires a unanimous vote. It’s why Ukraine still isn’t in nato. Also, while we have boots on the ground they’re currently federal boots, not California boots unfortunately. I support the #calexit movement, but it isn’t an overnight transition.

I’m going to be 100% honest, I don’t think Putin cares beyond the fact that he could laugh about it, and I don’t think China cares even half as much as that. With all due respect (and I mean that), the propaganda about Russia and China is just another way to scare us.

I have always had the same thought, they’re a big enough economy to be able to handle themselves. If that’s what their people want then they deserve to have the right to choose.

I befriended a mimic in my current campaign and his name is snappy and he is the goodest boy.

Yes it does, it just doesn’t know it yet.
