Taking shuttles out to scream at uncharted planets is a very popular Star Fleet activity, very cathartic.

That whirring noise you hear is Gregor Mendel spinning rapidly in his grave.

Bigotry and false confidence in their own intelligence, the staples of the Greco-Roman statue profile picture on the internet.

Yes, I summoned the ancient horror described in the legend that came from a meteor, but have you considered "eto bleh"?

My highschool math teacher showed us this website dedicated to promoting tau, which featured an obnoxious allegorical story about a "perfectly rational society" debating using years over half-years, comparing it to tau/pi.

And I got so mad at that story I refused to take tau seriously on principle.

Yes, this is especially evident if you've ever seen those videos where people train neural nets to play games; they'll often invent strategies that stall rather than strategies that win because the loss-prevention condition(s) outweigh the victory condition.

I had completely forgotten this existed. And this was 2021?

It does not feel like it was that recent.

Yeah cool thing, buddy, have you tried reading?

Genuinely cannot think of a reason you're so hellbent on dying on this hill, there aren't roving bands of women doing "recreational testosterone" even if you weren't blindingly wrong about painkillers.
December 9, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Paracetamol is Tylenol, that's why the other person linked you to the article for paracetamol poisoning. Paracetamol poisoning is also extremely high on the list of drug-related deaths.

Steroid abuse is a thing, but you have several things incredibly backwards here.
December 9, 2025 at 4:55 AM
My guy, painkillers make up the majority of all drug-related deaths worldwide, they are pretty much THE thing people routinely OD on and die from.

Paracetamol poisoning in particular is the foremost cause of liver poisoning in the US and the UK.

You don't understand, people MUST be informed about how EVERYTHING is RUINED FOREVER based on this one tiny detail from a movie that people had to frame-scrub to learn about.

In this 3-hour video essay (part 1 of 19), I will—

Unless a sudden influx of minerals is going to twist my impacted wisdom tooth a full 90 degrees into the proper upright position, I think I'm still going to get them extracted.

"Bucket Hands" is the name of my secret superhero alter ego where I tape buckets to my hands to dig out the roots of evil.

To be fair, that one's more like "guy recounts that one Christmas he had as viewed through the eyes of a kid" than "folks try to have Totally Normal Christmas™ but things go WACKY and WRONG!"

Plus, he did get the BB gun in the end.

They don't see a contradiction between their beliefs and their personal lives. I couldn't tell you how to fix this, but I think this is why people get wrapped up arguing with them and inevitably get frustrated.
November 18, 2025 at 6:09 PM
A lot of people don't realize because they've never really engaged with them but most conspiracy theorists and bigots in my experience are like this: completely normal human beings unless you ask their opinion on one thing and then suddenly out comes the Jewish space lasers fueled by baby tears.

That's such a weird distinction because, like, you absolutely can have poison that spreads through air and contact???

There's a very good reason you don't go frolicking in fields of poison ivy or take long, deep breaths of carbon monoxide.

"Yankee" refers to "delinquent". Hence manga like Yankee-kun to Megane-chan; the main character is a delinquent, not an American.

You've seen the cliche image of an anime delinquent crouching low, sporting a pompadour, holding a wooden sword, and chewing on a twig? That's "yankee".
