It is within living memory. It is well attested. People like Vance are drenched in its story. He & his peers studied it at good universities, they read about it in best sellers. If he actually believes these asinine gobbets of fascism then our species is absolutely without a serious future.

Throughout their win vs Botswana at AFCON, a DR Congo supporter replicated the stance of Patrice Lumumba, a key figure in African and Congolese independence who was assassinated in 1961 following a joint plot between political opponents, Belgium, the US, and UK 🇨🇩

Emery straight down the tunnel before shaking hands, inject it. Probably has Emirates Stadium PTSD. Good, I have it too thanks to him.

What a second half that was from Arsenal. We had to improve, we really did, and this felt like something of a statement.

Someone was due a proper beating, and to do it against the form team in the league is really important. Give us distance over Villa and Man City.

We needed this, huge win!

Arteta will be fuming about that. Really sloppy goal to concede.

Gabriel has been sensational in our box, just sticks his head on everything. Other defenders don't and it's not because they're lacking, he just pushes himself to go above and beyond every time.

Saka was an unused sub in the 2020 FA Cup final when he was two months older than Nwaneri is now.

Nwaneri will turn 19 in March and already has more Arsenal appearances (50) than Saka (42) when he turned 19.

Nwaneri has much more competition than Saka had.

There's nothing to be concerned about.

This goalkeeper has had one of those miracle nights where everything has hit him and that doesn't bode well for the shootout.

The media narrative around Villa playing badly and winning or City playing badly and winning is very different to the narrative around Arsenal playing badly and winning.

To be fair it’s going to be very funny when these clowns invent AGI and the super intelligent machine tells everyone to get offline, avoid processed food, stroll in the woods, seek community, eschew racism, pay high marginal rates of tax and ignore the ravings of deranged billionaires.

Shoutout to everyone who supports the team that is currently top of the Premier League and Champions League. Bad day today. Had to sit in the dark for a while. Quite a while. But we’re back. We go again. Pep talk over.

That’s salah interview is brutal to listen to. I love some schadenfreude but hearing that from one of your all-time great players, who has done so much for the club, has to be brutal. And this comes on the heels of booing one of their best every academy products. Something is broken there.

Don't think you can really say we deserved more than a point today.

Couldn't make the man advantage count. It's good to have the attacking players back, but probably fair to say there's a degree of rustiness to all of them.

2 wins and a draw in a very hard week not a bad return though.

What an amazing day for Arsenal and for Eberechi Eze. Incredible for him in any context, but with his history, his journey, it's just really, really special.

Also a massive win, and a statement/fuck off win in this title race after the results yesterday

Huge day, lots of fun to be had after this!

Liverpool were really poor today.

Why isn't there any real scrutiny as to why you have a £120m striker on the bench and you don't bring him on?

Theo Walcott's punditry reminds me of the way he played, dribbling along, with no clear sense of direction, none of the people around him really knowing what he would do and ending up running the ball into a cul de sac or out of play.

Sunderland scored two goals today off an xG of 0.44 and just two shots on target. Some days it's just not going to go your way.

FT: Blimey. That was a workout - and I'm sitting on the sofa. Gutted not to take all three points but we were in a real battle today and couldn't get over the line with our energy reserves at 0%.

Showed great fight to get back, but there will be regrets about our defending. UGH!

Next time your mate is deep in a reverie about the immutable, exceptional nature of English identity, you might want to show them this picture and remind them that 300 years ago this would have been enough to send the entire kingdom into a revolutionary, effigy burning, chapel torching frenzy
