this is also something in video games, i remember it being really bad in a lot of gamecube games specifically, it's just so funny cause it usually just looks like it adds a bunch of crappy artifact blocks around the actual textures

it's very ironic that some compression (like jpegs) add more colors to the image, this is something i've always found really ridiculous since i heard about it since wouldn't that technically make it more unoptimized?? it's ridiculous lol

cause at least when i posted stuff to twitter before i could still get the drawing back in the quality it was (at least for my posts that were very pixelated which were a lot) also the color compression is so fucking ass on this site it's really unfriendly for artists

i've said it before i'll forever find it annoying this website has this awful jpeg compression on it so if i haven't saved a drawing and impulsively posted it on here closing down the original thing i can't get it back in its original quality (i know that's on me but it's bothersome)
