One reason this moment is happening is because Reconstruction was halted after the Civil War, emboldening The Daughters of the Confederacy and growth of the KKK. Even after the Civil Rights movement, these racist mindsets never went away, but if we let them get away with murder, where does it end?

I think Putin has been whispering in Trump’s ear about Greenland, directly or via Whitkoff… maybe sold him on its strategic value … But Putin’s goal is to destabilize his old enemy NATO, maybe even make it collapse, so he has no check on his power, and can take what he wants in Eastern Europe.

Battleships like this barely made sense even in WWII — especially thinking of Bismarck here, which was the pride of the German navy, and such a threat that it was sunk on its first mission. It’s sister ship Tirpitz didn’t fair much better.

We gave up any objection to Denmark having Greenland, and got the US Virgin Islands in the deal for $25M, to better be able to protect the Panama Canal.

I suspect Trump is also being given west Africa, or at least Nigeria, for the oil … but possibly other countries there too (Benin etc). I’m not 100% sure why, but if Stephen Miller is involved, I wouldn’t be shocked if he dreamed of denaturalizing African Americans and sending them back there.
