TTC meddling (all highest difficulties have to be Master now because of the precedent of TE:C Master Mode, similarly Classic was retired as a rotation ruleset signifier because of the term being broadly understood to mean NES Tetris by the general public thx to CTWC)

Aside from input lag and an autofire button macro, not really any substantial differences I've been able to observe. Mars Matrix version differences are more significant since they uncapped the scoring and added autofire macros for shot and sword.

Getting there :)
I'd suggest throwing in some 20G starts just to get to grips with the system there, try surviving to 500, don't worry about the grading requirements much, if you can get S3 reasonably often by that point you should have enough leeway to clear the regular game

Pretty much the same as Windows after that time, the core of it is there but it gets bogged down in layers of bloat and notarization nonsense. The introduction of the Mac App Store was a definite turning point. That being said, AppKit is solid still and others will use it later on (ravynOS?)

If they want to support the "old" Winamp crew, they should be buying and using REAPER

Are you charging DAS consistently in the entry delay window before pieces actually fall? That's the most important skill to learn for dealing with awkward G and 20G
