He/His. Father, progressive, cat whisperer, not necessarily in that order of importance. I talk about marketing, data, human behavior, politics, identity, words, and whatever else I'm hyperfocusing on at the moment.
With all due respect, the solution is to let Europe take the lead (as they're doing more and more recently) and pass a Ukraine assistance bill that supports multilateral, European-led initiatives. The US needs to stop acting alone, and it needs to stop acting as de facto global leader.

Unfortunately, the bottom 10% are the least likely to vote. There are a lot of institutional causes for that: voter suppression efforts, lack of accessible/easy voting, etc. Even without those, though — bottom two quintiles have been trending R for twenty years now.

Fortunately, the courts are the ones who decide whether laws or parts thereof are valid, and I can't see this being remotely constitutional. Not that that'll stop Republicans from trying, but at least it won't be a permanent stain on the judiciary.

And for my fellow @poundridgedems.bsky.social, I hope you'll join me in calling Chuck E. Schumer's office to let him know we don't bend the knee to kings, fascists, and bullies; and we don't appreciate politicians who do.

A government shutdown would hurt. In the short term. But the budget you're willing to pass will hurt the most vulnerable in New York and across the nation for years. Short-term comfort at the cost of our most vulnerable isn't a price I'm willing to pay, and it's disappointing you can't say the same.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social is teaching a masterclass on leadership, while you're so terrified of taking a stand that you're willing to underhand Trump his first real win as president. You guys out-chutzpah'd by Connecticut, and as a New Yorker, I'm embarrassed for you.

All the more stupid since the mineral deposits claimed don't exist in a meaningful way, those that do aren't worth as much as expected (Li is common and cheap, Ti will take years to extract), and energy reserves (coal/gas) are mostly under Russian control. It was a red herring from the start.

It's amazing how well it all works. In my case, the deposit was pulled because the SSA considers direct deposit to be the same as a physical check, and a deceased person would not be able to deposit a physical check. For survivors' benefits, the depositor would be someone else, hence being ok.

It was incredibly efficient, because they're very good at what they do. And the upside is that they were very professional and helpful giving me the information on how to claim that check (you have to fill out a form as the estate.) Overall, the fed actually works very well (when staffed properly.)

Nothing "almost" about it. My mother passed away the day her SSDI check was deposited, actually a few hours after it hit her bank account. It was a check she/the estate was entitled to given that SSDI pays at the end of the month. Nevertheless, it was pulled from her account the very next morning.

This is my greatest fear: that one day, someone I know professionally will figure out my identity and will follow me around all day saying "you know, supply and demand don't actually apply to a lot of resources".
