I will say that when I got the absurd bill, the first thing I did was call the hospital billing dept and they were like oh, that’s the insurance company price, and then quoted me a third of it, which is of course also complete f-ed up, but it was easier than arguing with the insurance company!

This is like the time I had abdominal surgery at an in-network hospital with an in-network surgeon, but, surprise! The anesthesiologist was out of network! Was I supposed to ask that while I was on the table, before they put the mask on me—like hold up, show of hands, who here takes BCBS?

I had a work-issued (and paid for) iPhone for many years and it was an old enough model that they just let me take the phone with me (obviously ported over to my own account) when I left this spring, but I may make a switch when this phone dies.
