One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.
That’s dope, it makes for way better experiences and outcomes for the patients when the staff is similar to them. Too bad “DEI” is deemed radical left now. I can’t imagine what that’ll do to healthcare 10 years from now.
Representation is so important! It’s insane when you hear how yt nurses and doctors really feel about the population they serve, especially in county hospitals. If people knew how racist and biased nurse case managers are when deciding who gets admitted and to what floor, we’d need a docuseries.
In my experience, ERs, especially at teaching hospitals, carry a lot of underlying racism. Many of the residents and nurses come from privilege, and ER staffing favors white RNs because they’re deemed to be “smarter” and it benefits their careers long-term. A lot of them are rude and judgmental.
