Our colleagues at the Sun Journal, Times Record and weekly publications across southern and western Maine have turned in their final ballots. Current union members are excited to welcome nearly 50 new people to the News Guild of Maine, Local 31128 of Communications Workers of America.

#OneBigUnion will strengthen the connections between workers at the Maine Trust for Local News.

This week, the unrepresented workers of the Maine Trust for Local News vote to join the News Guild of Maine. Workers in Lewiston, Portland and across Maine sent in their ballots to the National Labor Relations Board and celebrated this milestone as we get one step closer to forming #OneBigUnion.

Non-unionized workers throughout the Maine Trust for Local News face staggering pay disparity and are vulnerable to layoffs. One Big Union means equal protection work equal work.
