for example, take this random parking lot that i totally don't pass a lot. you could fit a 200' ×500' building in this area but no, it's the place for the thing much more important than humans, the car.

it's so weird that @ncdot.bsky.social is building up theses plans for a giant fuck off big highway to get people into Charlotte that will take out people's houses when they could take a few existing lanes and run commuter services instead

Say, maybe instead of designing the line to pull people in from suburbs and into a city, it transfers through multiple cities, multiple suburbs and runs a regular service throughout the day?

On the regular "Joseph thinks up something silly" Amtrak working with Septa, Marc, and whoever else owns this trackage to make a second nec for added capacity and helping doing overhauls on the ex pennsy wires. Although you probably would want to electrify this too.

First Train north after the Panther's win today, the next train seems to be sold out. Seems like if we start playing good it might be a good idea to run more Piedmonts?

think it would be good if both projects got off the ground together and any stock purchased would be identical between the two systems to save money and have a better interconnected parts supply, maybe something from the Lexington Siemens facility?

drew up a sorta basic idea of 3 different lines based around PART bus service, a red line from Clemmons to Greensboro, a green line from Winston-Salem to Lexington, and a blue line on the NCRR between Burlington and Lexington. Service already exists on the Blue line in the form of the Piedmont and

Charlotte is finally getting rolling with their commuter rail and i think both the triad and triangle should take note and push for some Regional/Commuter rail

guessing eventually a. ncrr gets electrified (is state owned) and b. this project goes through just off of the need for people to get around an area with massive growth and i just get to trainwatch something like this passing the new airo sets.

Really annoying this near perfect regional train project got sidelined. The Piedmont/Carolinian is nice but just imagine more regular and expensive service on the ncrr.
