One of the reasons things are so dysfunctional in California is because of Prop 13 passed by voters in 1978:

Check out the property tax bills of these three neighbors:
1. $1,230.26
2. $63,947.68 - not a typo
3. $2,194.44

"Why would a retired person live in a high rise. Not me"
"No senior wants stairs in their home. Living in a high-rise is a big no."

Well there you have it! All the retired single family home owners say they would never live in a high rise (or heard of elevators). So why build it for others?

The global far right are slowly working through:

1. We want to deport all minorities
2. But without them demographics will implode the economy
3. What if we brought them all back but this time without rights

I was on a panel at Conservative conference today where the UAE model was seriously proposed as a direction to take Britain’s immigration system.

Or the maid, with the employer with grabby hands and nothing to eat but bread and noodles, no bedroom, and no way to leave.

Reality check: if you posted this first photo with the caption “Check out who came to oppose more homes in San Francisco!!” - people on here would immediately get it and be outraged. GREEDY CAPITALISTS!!

But do you think you’d get the same reaction for the second (real) photo?

Another evening of “this is why your city has a housing shortage”
Another room full of (mostly) older attendees for a public meeting about the Family Zoning Plan

Oh, and then there was UC Davis cops who were causally pepper spraying a row of people in 2011

www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AdD...

UC Davis then spent $175K trying to get the video off the internet, not understanding how anything works.

Speaking of pepper spray, be sure to read up on what Humboldt County sheriffs once did in 1997 to peaceful protestors teens with tear gas. It actually shocked a jury.

And yet in the end, the protestors won $1.

Ask yourself, how is it fair that when children inherit a portfolio of real estate in California that they then have to pay property taxes on them like new people!

Their parents already paid for so so so many years!! DEATH TAX!!

Repeal the death tax! And by death tax I mean allow people to inherit Prop 13 property taxes - including rental ones!

Maybe big brands will be required to advertise on CBS News to improve the TrumpScore

To be fair this is what god intended to be a home when she made Earth in 1950

a real “home” in Charleston Meadows—a 75 year old decaying plywood box with no insulation that nonetheless is worth $2.6 million (paying $1800/year in property taxes)

I dunno. I think she's only doomed if CBS News is meant to be a profitable journalistic endeavor moving forward. If it is meant to be a propaganda outlet, sponsored by MyPillow etc, then Fox News etc shows there's a healthy market for this.

The Celery Lobby will soon force it down your throat if you don't outright ban it
nextdoorsv.bsky.social
And yet you have to pay property taxes. OUTRAGEOUS!

"Does this look like home? does this even look like a place to live? no yards no parking no outdoor space and certainly not a welcome home look"

Friends, do you think this is a home? Or are you on Team Ellen and think we should only build houses which we conveniently don't have space for?
