After the events of Way of X, Kurt forms the Spark and the Legionnaires who are law officers of Krakoa. (He very pointendly says they are NOT police, which is a claim that gets interrogated in the book a bit.) These are his interpreations of the Three Laws.

You see it in this Reeder interview where he talks about Sheriff of Babylon being about how Iraq was rooted in "bullshitting." How he always brings up joining the CIA after 9/11 but never points out Iraq had nothing to do with it.

The continuing Israeli occupation, even after the Oslo agreements, was the underlying cause of the second intifada. Palestinians had thought that the 1993 Oslo agreement would lead to better lives, greater freedoms, the end of Israeli control, and, at the end of five years (1998), Palestinian statehood. Oslo was thought to mean the end of Israeli occupation and the start of Palestinian self- determination. When such changes failed to materialize and, in many ways, the situation on the ground worsened in the mid and late 1990s, many Palestinians started to believe that the diplomatic process was a dead end and renewed con- frontation was the only alternative. This dynamic explains much of the popular support for the second intifada.

Alessandro Marazzi Sassoon wrote a piece on Zohran's revolutionary campaign in a middle school mock election. What strikes me is how many people in this story went into politics or the media.

The third-party primary was hard-fought, with a crowded field of newly empowered independents—including myself, then the token Marxist, though out of a bizarre sense of sportsmanship I voted for Zohran. The Mamdani–Smith ticket prevailed by just one vote, against second-place finisher, fifth grader Serena Kerrigan. Now a social media influencer, Serena was just 10 at the time, but that experience was “seared” into her memory (so much so that she posted about it on Instagram recently). The simulation had, at this point, created subterfuge—Serena, speaking to me over the phone this week, recalled a rumor that the eighth graders were in fact trying to push voters her way because they feared the prospect of facing Zohran in the general. And they were right to. Zohran adopted a cow as his independent party mascot, leaning into the fact that, for tweenage reasons now lost to time, “cows were a meme in our grade,” my classmate Ema O’Connor reminded me. “He also successfully straddled the two social groups at the school, the more jock types and the freaks,” Ema said. The cow created a graphic identity to contrast with the GOP’s elephant and the Democrats’ donkey—and became the basis for witty electioneering. Posters that played on the “Got Milk?” ad campaign plastered the bulletin boards in the hallway; after Zohran secured the endorsement of NOW (played in the simulation by Ema), the slogan graduated to “I Want a COW Right NOW!”
