As Gov. Ayotte pointed out in her veto message, NH law already gives parents a right to opt their kids out of course materials they find personally objectionable. The state shouldn't be legislating questions of literary value, especially through a system that invites people to sue our schools.

Parents already have a right to opt their kids out of school materials they find inappropriate. New Hampshire doesn't need a law that calls for monetary penalties against school districts based on subjective standards of what is or isn’t objectionable.
