I got one recently off coupang (korean amazon equivalent) and as far as I can tell, if it has these clippy things on top then it'll do a pretty good job of staying sealed even when submerged (YMMV)

I'm pretty sure this, as well as the drone itself, taps into the core thing that makes OVRLRD fun, which is the abstraction I was talking about earlier. Putting these layers in between the player's input and the effect on the game world gives a weird kind of Rube Goldberg-like satisfaction.

Trying to make a good thermal/night vision camera effect took years of tinkering. This version stuck around for a while, despite not making much sense.

This is the point at which I'm really starting to have fun building the game. I think by this time it had eclipsed most of my primary hobbies and every free moment was spent making it or thinking about it. One build got rejected by steam for accidentally including a certain MP4 you can see here:

Also this fun little customizable boot screen for the monitors. This is just a PNG filmstrip the shader cycles through - I don't think players know this is still in the game and you can put whatever you want in there.
