I'm not normally a snowflake about these things.

I'm not mad about 'love' or 'darling' from strangers (usually customers) but I can understand that that is probably more out of habit than anything else. Plus, lads get called mate, buddy, etc. Whatever, no harm.

But never in my life have I heard anyone say 'Good boy' to one of my male colleagues. Because that would be really weird and belittling, right? It's something you say to a child, so tell your Da to please stop saying it to women.

How the Catholic church is still let away with puppetmastering schools is a disgrace, but the majority are happy to just go along with it all once there's a party at the weekend?

This year, we've been told, "to ensure full attendance from the school choir", the Communion will take place on a Friday.

So now my non-Catholic child will be marked as absent, while those children making their Communion will not be expected to actually be at school but will not be absent. Not to mention that all children involved will be sacrificing a full day's education to religious indoctrination. I'm rolling up my sleeves now to once again point out the unfairness of this.

Siblings will be marked absent.

It just goes to reinforce that Communion is nothing to do with the sacrament and everything to do with the big celebration.
