I don’t know if there is a “good candidate” anymore. There’s the candidate that is well known, and the one people can get passionate about. Democrats were clearly counting on the former.

Incredible that in all of the jokes I’ve heard about Trump and this movie I’ve never heard this take on it. Bravo Mrs.Dave

Thanks David! Btw you were wondering about utility for the Vision Pro, I do video editing and could absolutely see myself using it as a portable monitor. Multiple floating monitors is a dream! But however cool that idea is, it’s still an auxiliary use case and needs to be much lighter.

Vision Pro: Unlike the Vergecast crew, I really do see the utility for this for visual artists and creators. However a $3500 product in a space where the $300 Meta Quest 3S exists and does 90% of what this does plus gaming? Ridiculous.

Homepod: Siri has limited this device immensely and Apple seems to have forgotten about it. My guess is that they can't improve without severely compromising data privacy like the other brands, so they choose to nerf it.

Airpod: It's not a bad product at all, it's just completely forgettable imo. You can swap out Airpods with just about any other brand. Maybe the ANC is better, maybe the sound is better, but not by much if at all.

Apple TV: I have a love/hate relationship with this thing. I generally like the UI. Apps tend to perform consistently better on it than other Living Room boxes, however I've had some pretty bad glitches and issues on nearly every ATV I've used. For the price, others can do nearly as much for cheap

Watch: I have an Ultra, which i understand was completely unnecessary but I really just like how it looks better. That being said, it does everything my old Galaxy Watch 3 did, it's less customizable, and a few things it's actually worse at.

iPhone: I'm recently back on iPhones after a long hiatus and I'm struck at how little the difference is compared to Android.
Pros:
- Airdrop
- ProRes video
- Wireless camera for Mac
Cons:
- My pictures are considerably worse
- Texting android users is still terrible
- File organization is abysmal

Airtag: In the US, Airtags are king. It's true that there are other products out on the market right now that do much of the same functionality, but they've only managed to close the gap fairly recently and even then do not have the same public trust as Airtags. These are simple, but nearly perfect

iPad: I don't even own an iPad but they define the entire tablet market. For all of their issues, they are accessible and the app ecosystem makes it possible to completely remove another computer from your life (depending on your needs). Samsung tablets are great, but they just don't have the apps.

Mac: I'm a late adopter of the Mac platform but I'll admit that with the creation of in-house silicon, Apple has transformed this brand from "overpriced but well made" to "the best bang for your buck". At least in laptops. MSFT has also completely dropped the ball with Windows so OSX claims victory

My list is of course also personal but I'm just taking into account how they are as products in 2025. As you'll see by my comments, I'm not an Apple fanboy. I just appreciate the best products I can get for my money.

Trump is more dangerous as long as democracy exists. He holds the republicans and voter base in a chokehold. Vance will not win in a fair election, but you’re right that he would be more lenient on tech.
