I think the dull football certainly plays a part. Im fine with high expectations. That's what we want to happen.

Its the opposite of the 22/23 season. That journey was so fun, even though we didn't win anything. Whereas this is just a chore.

Im with Ben. Our elite players and everyone else's flaws is probably enough to get us a big one this season. Mikel does do a lot of elite stuff, hes just woeful at others. Needs to get an OC in to teach him how to attack as opposed to a new manager. I wouldn't want anyone from PL outside of Pep.

It would be quite hard to do a bad job with timber, saliba, Gabriel, rice and saka in the team

I want him starting PL games for us as soon as possible (ideally by Villa), so would prioritise whatever is required for that. Most likely 60 minutes and then 30 v Brighton.

I think if we get to a semi, he will go strong, but expect a similar team to Brighton against palace. Fa cup will be very fixture dependant

Of course there is no guarantee, but weve seen major injuries from meaningless games. A league cup does nothing for this project

Couldn't agree more. Even though our back up/rotation players could use minutes, there's no chance he wouldn't play our first choice players, especially defence

We've got elite players everywhere bar LW and CF. We should have gone all out for a CF. Ekitike looked like the right profile with massive upside and a great age. The upfront fee was not that much higher than what we paid for gyokeres

But that's not the comparison you were making. Saka was getting lots of minutes at 18/19. Whilst it was a worse team, his teammates were also a lot worse and he was expected to be the star, as opposed to nwaneri coming in (for some games) and being a cog in a well oiled team.

He's 19 in March. I think Saka was pretty established as a regular then wasn't he? Madueke was an unused sub last night, rice/eze/merino/ode are all ahead of him in CM. Its quite difficult to see where those PL minutes are going to come any time soon

We struggled against a deep block. A player like him that will pass and move and drive with the ball is imo much more effective as a midfield sub than merino, even if hes more established/proven. Or even starting with rice and eze.

Sure, but if a player is unhappy, that can stall his development. Its delicate. We just need to use him more really. He looked good in his cameo at brugge and should have got a start yday. He will play against kairat, palace and pompey presumably

By the sounds of it, it may appease him. Although surely you'd want to be around for a PL title race and CL games. Its only really going to be an issue if he doesn't start making squads.
