This is happening up and down the jurisdiction.

First day back in court after the break. Thought things might be different in 2025.

But it's the same old, same old . . . heating problems at Nottingham Crown Court All courtrooms are shut.

That Crown Court case backlog is not going to improve any time soon.

The Lady Chief Justice is right.

The previous government devastated criminal justice, running up record delays and backlogs.

The new government’s ongoing refusal to fund the courts only increases the problem, and will lead to enormous financial and social long-term costs.
“Carr, in post since October last year, said the ministry of justice was “one of the most underfunded departments across government” and that “we have courtrooms and some entire courts being stopped running for significant periods”.
