Don’t know who this guy is or if this post is even real, but you can guarantee that Labour ministers patronisingly and cluelessly think that every Reform voter loves this sort of stuff.

A government that wants to fix problems with the asylum system should be jumping through hoops to seek from advice from 1 of their MPs who’s an expert on this issue.
That they haven’t says all you need to know about their motives.
They are only interested in looking tough, not on improving things.

Exactly this.
Labour have made so clear that they rate you based on your salary, nothing else.
Out of touch, clueless, insulting & paving the way for a Farage government. All whilst enabling and mainstreaming these far-right ideas.

Anyone saying Reform would be worse is respectfully wrong.
Tories were dreadful on immigration but there was at least a semblance of a progressive opposition acting as a check. I’m sure that would be so were Reform in power.
With Labour, it’s Reform policies & Reform in opposition, with no check.

Everything about today’s announcement shows how out of touch & vacuous this pitiful government is.
This will ruin lives, further embolden racists, cripple a govt department & won’t save Labour from being routed from right & left whenever we next vote.
So what purpose does any of this cruelty serve?
This proposal will affect:
1️⃣ People with disabilities & long-term health issues
2️⃣ Parents of British children
3️⃣ Low-paid workers, such as carers
4️⃣ People who temporarily lose jobs & have paid tax for years
5️⃣ Trafficking victims
6️⃣ Torture survivors
It is unconscionable & disgusting.

New Labour policy is that if you've ever had to borrow money because this country is incredibly expensive or if you're sick and therefore don't work and pay tax, you can never secure permanent immigration status.
Just let that sink in.

Utterly disingenuous from no 10.
If they care about racism in the UK, their focus should not be on what Farage said whilst at school.
They should take on Reform’s present day racism.
Instead they enable this racism with their cruel & gutless anti-migrant agenda.

Great to see an MP spitting facts rather lying & scapegoating.
Maybe, just maybe, when designing asylum policy it would be wise to speak with experts working in the sector rather than pandering to Reform. Who knows, you may actually improve things & stop normalising the hateful anti-migrant bile?
The UK isn’t a “soft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.

The below is from the government's new asylum policy statement.
The language they use to demonise and dehumanise refugees is disgusting. Any MP supporting this needs to think long and hard about the sort of country they want the UK to be.
