We're beginning to see the true sensitivity of climate to greenhouse gases, and it's bigger than almost anyone expected. A huge challenge to us all to avoid runaway climate. Energy transition, justice, sustainable buildings / agriculture / horticulture.
Thanks, that's really interesting.

Who knows, it may be too late now that the world's tropical forests are spewing carbon into the atmosphere. But without rapid consensus at all levels and scales within society to end fossil fuel use, civilisation will have no chance.

Yes, today that's the position. Tomorrow... I think changes will surprise a lot of people as people and their governments see the economic downside.

'Alluding' maybe? 'To' maybe?
Reality: Global oil consumption is forecast to peak imminently owing to the exponential growth in renewables which I referred to. An end very much in sight for those without blinkers on.

Actually global solar has been growing near-exponentially for the last 35 years. It's just that now, as a result, it's approaching the levels of coal, oil and gas, but in stark contrast to them it's still doubling every 2-3 years.

In whatever way, the remainder will be covered. I worked on fusion in the 1980s and for sure, renewables have come on faster than fusion has. Would be nice, though.

My personal view is that we will reach close to 50% solar globally before 2040
