I can’t be the only one waiting to hear @davidolusoga.bsky.social tell us the story of the shipping magnate who bought the castle after being jilted at the altar by Princess Helena #CelebrityTraitors

Congratulations! Having lived through Thatcher’s destruction of publicly owned services and theft from ordinary people. It warms my heart knowing that the Greens are boldly committed to undoing the harm. The greens are daring to go where others will not.

This motion passed today at Green Party conference!

The Green Party has strengthened our position on protecting housing as a public service and ending the scourge of landlordism.

Homes are not commodities. #GPC25 #GPConf25

Let's abolish landlords!

The rental sector is broken. Renters give 1/3 of our income to pay off the debt on someone else's asset. This is a direct transfer of wealth from workers to asset holders.

It’s time we brought this to an end and built housing for everyone.

Really good to hear Cllr Kevin Foster (pictured on screen) reflect on his experiences as a veteran, why he joined the Green Party and what we as Green councillors can do to help the armed forces community. #GPC25 #GPConf

Thank you to @rachelmillward.bsky.social & @mothinali.bsky.social for putting their hearts into their #GPconf speeches.

Their stories, care, and action shows how the personal is political. The value of turning into our pain.

As Rachel said, “it takes a certain kind of darkness to see the stars”.

I made it! And with @zackpolanski.bsky.social as leader, it’s definitely feeling like the Green Party has made it too!

Lots of excitement in the room, and lots of realistic hopes to win big in the many elections set for May 2026. #GPC25 #GPConf

I learnt of this morning’s attack whilst at the Newcastle Community Bridgebuilders event at Newcastle City Council.

We must do all we can to connect communities and end violence.

This should concern us all.

Good that the deplorable state of Newcastle's coach station is being kept in the public eye, and we hope that Newcastle City Council continue to work on a solution to improve facilities for passengers on this vital form of public transport.
mikecookson.bsky.social
Pleased that the condition of and use of the Coach Station has been brought up at Full Council tonight.

Coaches using John Dobson Street is unacceptable, there's no shelter, no facilities and parked Coaches impact on the ability of local scheduled services to get to the kerb to deploy ramps.

After campaigning by residents and youth organisations like Foundation Futures it was good to hear that the play site in St Lawrence Park was identified for improvement.

Glad to confirm residents will be involved in the consultation coming soon.

Fingers crossed for that zip line!
Answer: As part of the design process, ward members will be consulted at the outset about the available funding, options around the type of play equipment which can be installed and any limitations around the site. Once these parameters are agreed an initial outline will be available, which can be shared with local residents, community groups and young people to feedback on the proposals. Given the limited funding to each site, and the wish to have inclusive and accessible equipment included within the designs, there will be quite a narrow scope of influence, but any feedback from the community will be included in the final designs. The Project team has already had its initial meeting, and over the coming weeks, they will be carrying out site and topography surveys to gather information pertaining to each site, whereby the initial views can be considered. Designs and consultation will be starting later this year, the
project team will be in touch with ward members in the coming weeks

A massive thank you to the hundreds of people who came to town to send a message that Newcastle is a city of love, compassion and hope.

Don’t let those politicians backed by the millionaires and billionaires divide us! Let’s stand up for people and planet. #NewcastleUnites

In the age of hate, choosing to be kind is a political act.

Newcastle put on a stunning display of unity and community strength today.

Thank you to the vicars, imams, union leaders, musicians, community activists & politicians who spoke.

Frustrated with the news today, so I officially just joined the green party - I'm now fully signed up 💚

I like @nickhartleygreen.bsky.social and @zackpolanski.bsky.social. They're a fully established party, are eco conscious, and have a vocally pro trans leader, which feels increasingly rare

Why are Newcastle Labour tying us in to a contract that forces us to burn vast amounts of recyclable material for literally decades into the future, against the wishes of the majority of councillors?

Leader of Newcastle City Council confirms at Cabinet that Newcastle will NOT withdraw from the Tees Valley incinerator project despite the majority of the councillors voting to do so.

Even more disappointing, there wasn’t even a commitment to move away from incineration in the Council Plan.
