..and of course, I invert the teams in my quick tweet. 6th to the Jaguars, 7th to the Browns.

And I really want to thank @AdamSchefter for listing out precisely which draft picks are being moved in trades, it helps out much in keeping accurate track of each team's draft capital in real time.

The 6th rounder going to the Browns came from the Jets in the Jowon Briggs trade.

The 7th rounder going to the Jaguars came from the Eagles in the Fred Johnson trade.

With LAR/BAL going south due to the Ravens' injuries, would Fox consider a 3-2 Seahawks team that just lost a thrilling close game versus a 4-1 Jaguars team that just beat KC in similarly thrilling fashion?

Nope! Just default to the same ol' America's Cowboys Game Of The Week™!

If Ryan Kelly misses a high enough number of snaps, his contract value would fall to the 6th round.

If a 7th round 2026 compensatory pick is available (Trent Sherfield or Johnny Mundt), it would instead turn into a 5th rounder (Cam Robinson).
nickkorte.bsky.social
The Ravens should also now be slated to have five 5th round picks in 2026:
•their own
•LAC's (Odafe Oweh)
•NYJ's (Tyler Baron tradeup)
•compensatory (Brandon Stephens)
•compensatory (Patrick Mekari)

The Rams' 7th came to the Ravens via the Tre'Davious White trade--a player the Ravens might receive a 2026 compensatory 7th for due to him going back to Buffalo.

And that's a perfect week sealed up for the Broncos: get a win (and a big one at that), and all three of their division rivals lose.
nickkorte.bsky.social
To be clear, even with the snaps and earned incentive, Eric Wilson is very much on the qualifying bubble, so this is not certain by any means. But I now see it as a possibility.
nickkorte.bsky.social
The Packers would also be eligible to get a 7th round 2026 compensatory pick for the departure of Eric Wilson to the rival Vikings, but it would almost certainly miss the 32 pick limit.
nickkorte.bsky.social
That does set up a possible scenario where if Eric Wilson qualifies as a compensatory free agent, and Trent Sherfield & Johnny Mundt do not, the formula could have no choice but to cancel out the Daniel Jones comp pick.

I just discovered another liability with the Vikings' 2026 compensatory picks:

Eric Wilson is on his way to qualifying as a compensatory free agent due to emerging as a starter in Minneapolis.

He also has a $150k incentive for playing at least 52% of the defensive snaps.
nickkorte.bsky.social
The Trent Sherfield Snap Count Watch looks to have him falling to 31.6% in Week 5--he got only 16 (22%), while Pat Bryant got 40 (54%).

The Broncos likely need to drop his average snaps per game to below 15 in order to avoid him from qualifying as a compensatory free agent.

Cooper Rush qualifying as a compensatory free agent would be very consequential for the Cowboys, though.

They seem determined to trade off 5th & 6th round picks in exchange for contributions from Javonte Williams & Solomon Thomas now.

Rush would free up that 5th rounder.
nickkorte.bsky.social
It's not a huge deal for the Ravens if Cooper Rush qualifies as a compensatory free agent, as they'll have at least one open 7th rounder to tank his cancellation, and protect their higher 5th round 2026 comp picks (Brandon Stephens & Patrick Mekari).
nickkorte.bsky.social
In case anyone is wondering about how Cooper Rush could factor into the 2026 comp picks, I'm guessing he'd need to start 5 games to get the minimum snap count boost of 25% he needs to qualify as a compensatory free agent.

Three of these players within one game right now, three of these other players within one team right now.

Denver Broncos Victory Doodle! : )

If Joe Flacco does not play another snap on the season, there's a chance that the 2026 compensatory pick that the Colts are slated to receive due to him going back to Cleveland could fall from the 6th round into the 7th.
nickkorte.bsky.social
So the 41st name will be added to the infamous Browns jersey...
nickkorte.bsky.social
Had that happened, the Cardinals would have gotten a 6th round compensatory pick in 2018, and the Vikings a 7th rounder, instead of the other way around.
nickkorte.bsky.social
Adrian Peterson barely got enough total snaps (27%) on the season to get a boost for it. The minimum is 25%.

If it was split between teams, his contract would have been valued as a 7th rounder instead of a 6th.
nickkorte.bsky.social
People have been asking me if full snap counts still apply to all teams involved in a trade for the compensatory pick, and I believe the answer to be yes.

An example I found that supports that is when Adrian Peterson went from the Vikings to the Saints to the Cardinals.
nickkorte.bsky.social
There's a new team on the 2026 comp picks board: the Commanders.

While losing Deatrich Wise to a season ending injury is bad, a silver lining is that he might not qualify as a compensatory free agent, which opens up a 6th rounder for Dante Fowler leaving for the rival Cowboys.
