You can't buy the White House.

...wait.

Can you?

I read "On Freedom" by @timothysnyder.bsky.social.

Freedom isn’t just “no one stopping you.” Case in point, if you're broke, uneducated, unsupported, you're not free. You're stranded.

Freedom means having the capability to act. That takes community.

It's brilliant. Go buy it. bit.ly/4tgvLqw

You weren’t born rich, powerful, or superior.

You were born helpless and dependent on other people’s care, just like everyone else.

Equality isn’t radical — it’s the default.

So is this China now?

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to defund ICE. Human life is more important and we ought to be spending that money in support of We The People.

Well, it's a start.
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
Gregory Bovino Gets Demoted
The Border Patrol chief was the public face of a traveling immigration crackdown on cities governed by Democrats.

Take heart, fellow Americans. Our voices will be heard.
#GVerse Chicago turnout this morning was INSANE.

Thousands hit the streets demanding justice for Alex Pretti and calling out the federal crackdown that killed him.

This isn’t “local unrest” anymore. It’s national.

Remember how presidents used to talk? When they sounded like this? Yeah. Those were the days.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

There's a word for this: extrajudicial killing. Murderers MUST be held accountable for the terrible crimes they do. Supreme Court, where are you?
January 25, 2026 at 7:25 PM
This is unacceptable and cannot be permitted. It's a horrendous breach of our Constitutional rights and Republicans MUST STAND UP. Better late than never, guys!
The party of law and order literally just wrote themselves a memo that says they don't have to follow the 4th Amendment.

That's right, ICE intends to perform illegal search and seizures without a warrant.

Add that to the list with "we had to beat up the police on Jan 6 to defend our democracy".
January 24, 2026 at 12:23 AM
How could someone saying the plain obvious truth be received with such suspicion? Everyone in the country saw what happened on January 6th with their own eyes. Yet the Republicans bent over backwards to attempt to discredit Jack Smith rather than address the coup-happy elephant in the room.
Jack Smith: "The people who assaulted police officers and were convicted after trial in my view and I think in the view of the judges who sentenced them to prison are dangerous to their community. Some of these people have already committed crimes against their communities again."

It’s -10 degrees and thousands still showed up strong in Minneapolis. That’s who we are.

I'm just saying...this was absurdly entertaining and the songs were fantastic.
"KPop Demon Hunters" just scored Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Golden."

Last year, we spoke with "Golden" singer and "Demon Hunters" star EJAE about her rise to global superstardom. Read the interview:
How ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Star EJAE Topped the Charts
Kids everywhere know her voice—if not her name. WIRED talks to the former SM trainee about her rise to global superstardom with her hit song “Golden.”

A meaningless conflict that ultimately went nowhere...and what? Trump made the Greenlanders allow us to create military bases anywhere we want. Wait, that's been a thing since Truman? Anybody tell Annoying Orange?

Earth to Congress: for Trump, everything's a pissing contest where everybody loses.
NATO’s members have rowed before, but those confrontations had little lasting impact on the alliance. American threats against Greenland are far more serious because America is NATO’s political and military backbone
Donald Trump’s expansionist itch has undermined global security
He has suspended his predation of Greenland, but he cannot retract the mistrust it generated

It can feel overwhelming right now with the 24-hour news cycle, but don't despair. This country has been to the brink numerous times over the past 250 years. Get involved in local politics. If you want democracy, participate in it. Courage is infectious. Show the world you're alive today. Speak up.
