Even if US companies doubled Venezuelan oil output to 2M barrels/day x 365 = 730M barrels/yr

Assume a high $90/barrel = $65.7B per year. Even if US gov takes 20%
$13B year < 0.04% of *current* $38T (& growing) debt.

Will cost US more than it makes.

So nobody is playing any kind of “America First” 4D chess here. American oil companies and their shareholders are however, in line to get a giant windfall at U.S. taxpayer & military expense and, very likely, the expense of even more Venezuelan lives.

I have some questions about a lot of the methodology and assumptions the modeling has to make to get such high job estimates. For transparency, the full report is here. online.flippingbook.com/view/701130056

No idea where these data centers job numbers come from. The footnote to Table III.1 just says "SRC Estimates Based on IMPLAN Modeling System, IMPLAN Data Library, and Publicly Available Data". But if you're starting with an inflated number and apply a multiplier... you will get an inflated answer.

The industry faces a critical choice: lock in coal for decades more, or pivot investment to clean alternatives like hydrogen-based direct reduced iron (H2-DRI), already proven and scaling globally ⚙️🌍

Bad day to be Trump’s newly appointed head of the BLS.

I don’t really care how anyone tries to spin it. All these guys drawing women’s bodies on Jeffrey Epstein’s birthday card is extremely gross, creepy, and weird.

In other words, this kind of pop. loss & fear of disclosing immigration status on surveys would skew responses. There wasn’t a magic US baby boom in the 2000s that is joining the workforce in August 2025. The data methods are artificially extrapolating surveys to match pre-Trump pop. estimates.

In August jobs report the administration said US born employment was up 3.3M while immigrant employment was down. But survey results are weighted to meet prior national forecast pop. total. A decline in immigrant response = the algorithm makes up U.S. employees to force the total numbers to add up.

Bluesky reminds me of the early Twitter days. No algorithms pushing ads/sales/ideologies. Nobody trying to “go viral” for money. Discussion, article sharing, news updates. Not everything has to be about “influencing”, Nate.

This was so bizarre I had to dig into the data. Ended up writing about if $600B in 2 yrs is believable. Spoiler: it’s not. It would be over 300% of ALL major data center investments announced in the last 2 years. It’s an impressive number for an audience of 1 open.substack.com/pub/publicgo...
Zuckerberg's hot mic and big data center commitment to Trump
The Meta CEO's off-the-cuff 2-year data center investment promise would be larger than Colorado's entire economy.

He has *attempted* to fire Lisa Cook. Whether or not he legally can is still a question for courts.
